    REV. DR. C. EDWIN LASBURY

    Our husband, father, grandfather, friend and minister, Charles Edwin Lasbury, age 72, died on Saturday, September 6, 2003, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

    Born in East Alton, Illinois to the late Bernice and Edwin C. Lasbury, he was raised in Hammond, Indiana.

    Ed earned his bachelor's degree from Indiana University, his master's degree from Wesley Theological Seminary and his doctorate degree from Drew University. His ministry in the Peninsula-Delaware United Methodist Conference spanned 40 years.

    He served at St. Paul's and Chester Bethel of Wilmington, St. John's of Fruitland, Maryland, St. Mark's of Easton, Maryland and the Hockessin United Methodist Church.

    He was appointed the District Superintendent of the Wilmington District for a term of 6 years.

    During retirement, Ed served as the Chaplain at Cokesbury Village in Hockessin, Delaware.

    He held leadership positions at the conference level with a special interest in ecumenism and social issues.

    He was a longstanding member of the National Conference of Christians and Jews. He was an active sailor with the New Castle Sailing Club, a volunteer usher at the Grand Opera House, and an active member of Rotary.

    He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, fitness and family.

    He was a scholar, leader, teacher, preacher, counselor, administrator, friend and activist who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

    He is survived by his wife, Kaylene (McDade) Lasbury; children, Deborah Bartell, John and Tina Lasbury and Kathleen and Michal Ingram; grandchildren, Timothy, Margaret, Emily, Zachary, Sarah, Jennifer, and James; brothers, Richard and wife, Betty Lasbury and Thomas and wife, Sarah Lasbury, both of Indiana; numerous cousins; nieces and nephews.

    There will be a memorial service on Saturday September 20, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Hockessin United Methodist Church, 7250 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE, 19707.

    Burial will be private.

    In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 100 W. 10th Street, Suite 209, Wilmington, DE 19801 or Wesley Theological Seminary Scholarship Fund, 4500 Massachusetts Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20016.

    Kaylene M. Lasbury, age 81, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Wednesday, April 22, 2020. She was a loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmama, and great-Gmama. Kaylene graduated from the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and was an active member and treasurer of the Alumnae Association. She enjoyed working in geriatrics at the Methodist Country House. She served others as a volunteer at the South Coastal Library in Bethany Beach, Delaware. Kaylene loved learning, new friendships, and "school" trips as a member of University of Delaware's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in Lewes and Ocean View, Delaware. She was a lighthouse enthusiast, visiting them everywhere she traveled. Her family has many great memories of yearly camping/hiking trips. After retirement, she became an avid world traveler with her husband, family, and with friends who are really extended family. She will be dearly missed.

    Kaylene is survived by her children: Deborah Bartell, John Lasbury (Tina), and Kathleen Ingram (Michael); 7 grandchildren: Tim Ingram (Debora), Margaret Bartell, Emily Riddick (Michael), Zachary Ingram, Sarah Koch (Roger), Jennifer Knack ( Ethan), and James Lasbury (Autumn); 8 great-grandchildren Neveah, Rebecca, Malina, Peyton, Jackson, R.J., Gavin, and Emberly; brother, Tom McDade (Sue); and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dr. C. Edwin Lasbury; parents, James and Margaret McDade; and sister, Patricia Sianni (Joseph).

    Edwin Charles Lasbury, 58, of Hammond, Ind., died at 3 a.m. today at a Hammond hospital where he had been ill for the past year.

    Mr. Lasbury, a retired oil company employee, formerly resided in Wood River. He moved to Indian in 1932.

    Mr. Lasbury attended Wood River Schools and was active in the Masonic lodge in Hammond.

    Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Beatrice Lasbury, nee Thomae; his mother, Mrs. Alice Lasbury, nee McFetridge, of East Alton; three sons, the Rev. Charles Edwin Lasbury, Jr. of Salisbury, Md.; Dr. Richard Lee Lasbury of Kokomo, Ind.; and Thomas John Lasbury of Hammond, Ind.; and two brothers, William Lasbury of Wheeling, WV and Lester Lasbury of Wood River; five sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Considine of Edwardsville; Mrs. Mildred Evans of Wilmington, Del.; Mrs. Beatrice Huber of Meadowbrook; Mrs. Ada Goodman of East Alton; and Mrs. Alice Dvorchak of Wood River; and six grandchildren.

    Mr. Lasbury was preceded in death by his father Edwin Woodside Lasbury and brother Thomas Edwin Lasbury.

    The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the 1st Methodist Church in Hammond, Ind. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Emmerling-Paddock Funeral Home in Hammond.

    Edwin married Zoa Berenice Thomae on 12 Apr 1929.     Lasbury, Z. Bernice - age 76 of Munster, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 1989 at Munster Community Hospital. Survivors: three sons, Thomas J. (Sarah) of Munster, Dr. Richard L. (Betty) Lasbury of Kokomo, Indiana, and Rev. C. Edwin (Kayleen) Lasbury of Wilmington, Delaware; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Edwin C. Lasbury.

    A service of remembrance will be conducted by the McCoy Funeral Chapel at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon, June 10, at the First United Methodist Church, 6635 Hohman Avenue, Hammond, with Pastor David Schramm officiating. There will be no hours of visitation.

    Mrs. Lasbury was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, Hammond; the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Awalim Court #9, the Order of Easter Star Hammond Chapter. An expression of sympathy may be give to the Organ Fund of her church.
