    Bart Marcy (Barton Coles Marcy, Jr.), 77, passed away December 9, 2017. Born in Oneida, NY, he spent his youth in East Windsor, CT. He attended Suffield Academy, Wake Forest University (B.S.), and the University of Connecticut (M.S.). Always an outdoorsman and environmentalist, he spent his entire career as an ichthyologist and environmental consultant. While at the Essex, CT Marine Lab, he participated in the first study of the effects of nuclear power plant cooling water on the riverine and coastal environment. He continued his research for NUS Corporation in Pittsburgh, PA and Aiken, SC. At his last job at Westinghouse Savannah River Site, he led the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) program, and also continued his fisheries research. He was a founding member of the Friends of the Edisto (FRED) and wrote many papers and books on fisheries biology, the last of which was Fishes of the Edisto. He most recently lived in Summerville, SC in the Del Webb community where he advised the Fishing Club on stocking their lagoons for recreational purposes. In addition to his wife Joan Lang Marcy, Bart is survived by his son Douglas Coles Marcy and daughter-in-law Mary Elise Marcy, grandchildren Benjamin and Ella Kate of Charleston, SC and his sister Elaine Campbell of Canaan, NH.
    The family will receive friends from 1PM-2PM on December 19 at the McAlister-Smith funeral home, 2501 Bees Ferry Road Charleston, SC 29414, where his memorial service will be held at 2PM at the funeral home.
