Young Aaron, as he was known, was of the pioneer type and seldom remained long in one place, though he spent most of his life in the western part of New York state and adjacent portions of Pennsylvania. He was a shoemaker and had a shop in Poland, New York.
He was the first post master of Cherry Creek, NY.
He was a very jovial character, original and in some ways eccentric. It is said that he never, if it could be avoided, wore a coat and that he danced on the court house steps, Warren, PA on his 94th birthday. (statement from his grand daughter, Mrs. Lottie S. Costello.)
He died in the home of his son, Russell in Conewango, PA (a suburb of Warren) March 8, 1873 at the age of 94 years, two months and 24 days. | Bartlett, Aaron (I7317)

Harry was apparently a keen churchgoer, his voice could always be heard above the others in the congregation and always just lagging behind the music! (from a discussion with Ken Baker, Aug '97).
Harry was also very careful (tight!) with his money. Ken Baker recalls that one day Harry had a puncture in the tyre of his bicycle. Ken watched him remove the tyre and was amazed to see an inner tube that had so many patches that the original rubber was almost totally obscured!
