Cause: Colliery Accident |
- William Lear died 20 April 1897 at the Tyning Colliery at the age of 36. Fatally injured by a charge of dynamite upon his returning to ignite it after a charge of powder had gone off. The flame from the powder shot ignited the fuse and thus caused the accident. He died the following day. This consequently is really due to powder although actually caused by an explosion of dynamite
