He escaped from Germany and arrived in England 27 November 1918. He was deemed discharged 30 April 1920.
He was a Sergeant, served in France from 1917 to 1918 and was awarded the Military Medal 6 February 1919 for gallantry in escaping from captivity whilst a prisoner of war.
He enlisted in Class "E" reserve on 29 January 1939 at Filton where his occupation is shown as a public service vehicle operator.
