- Rebecca (Becky) Bump, born Rebecca Lynn Vasile, left this world suddenly on September 1, 2020, at the age of 36. Gone far too soon, her death brings great sadness to her family, friends and all those who knew her.
Becky was the beloved and adored wife of 13 years to Jonathan Bump, although she had known and loved him for 19 years, and a caring, dedicated, and proud mother to Brooke and Jonathan Jr., ages 9 and 7. Becky was born in Hartford and grew up in Enfield. Her loving parents and brother enjoyed wonderful experiences and travels with her during her childhood, including summer vacations to Cape Cod and New Hampshire with friends and family. Becky loved to dance - a passion she later passed down to her daughter, Brooke. She graduated from Enfield High School and enjoyed going to Dave Matthews concerts with her friends, who will always remember Becky for her kindness, generosity, and sense of humor.
After meeting and falling in love as teenagers, Becky and Jonathan built their life together in Enfield, surrounded by extended families that loved them unconditionally. Becky's calm disposition and kind spirit lent themselves naturally to early childhood education - a career she excelled in after graduating from Central Connecticut State University.
Even while pursuing her professional career, Becky lived every day for her family. Her husband will remember their long motorcycle rides together, their adventures to the Bahamas, St. Lucia, Disney World, and Las Vegas, as well as an amazing trip to England for her birthday, where they especially enjoyed the opportunity to visit London. Her children will remember trips to Six Flags, New York City, Boston, the beach, camping and countless other family trips and adventures. Becky loved making every holiday special for her kids, and often visited multiple houses on Christmas so that Brooke and Jonathan Jr. never missed out on both her and Jonathan's family traditions like Italian cookies, trips to see neighborhood lights and decorations, lasagna and Papa's meatballs, Christmas Eve pajamas, and beautiful hand-knit stockings.
In addition to her husband and children, Becky is survived by her parents, Anthony and Barbara Vasile, and their family including Becky's brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Nicole Vasile, and her grandfather, Ernest Lederman. She is also survived by Jonathan's parents, Allen and Karen Bump, and their family including Jonathan's brother, Allen Bump III and his long-time girlfriend Kacie Wilbur, sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Giovanni Enriquez, and grandmother, Mary Lasbury. Becky will be reunited in heaven with her grandmother, Barbara Lederman.
Becky also leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved friends who deeply mourn her passing. This loss has left the Bump and Vasile families with a wound that can never be healed. The kindness of so many in their community has been overwhelming. The family would especially like to thank Tony and Anthony Scussel from The Growth Company, as well as All Waste Inc. for their tremendous generosity and support. Finally, Jonathan would like to thank his brothers in the Warlocks Motorcycle Club for all of the incredible help they have given him and his family.
The funeral service will be private, however those wishing to pay their respects to Becky and her family may do so from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020, at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. Please note that masks and social distancing are required for all visitors attending.
