Gloucestershire Records
If you are researching births, marriages or deaths in Gloucestershire then you will find this website very useful. The [weaver_popup_link href=’http://ww3.gloucestershire.gov.uk/bmd/MainMenu.aspx’ h=’500′ w=’800′ scrollbars=false] Gloucestershire BMD Indexes[/weaver_popup_link] are a joint project between Gloucestershire Registration Service, Gloucestershire Archives and the Gloucestershire Family History Society. Volunteers have been indexing the records and adding the information to the website in a fully searchable form. So far, the records include
- Births from 1837 to 1911
- Marriages from 1837 to 1948
- Deaths from 1837 to 1900
The following areas of Gloucestershire are covered by the indexes: Cheltenham, Cirencester, Stroud, Forest of Dean, Gloucester and the North Cotswolds. Full details of progress can be found here.
It is possible to undertake a simple search across all indexes in one go or undertake an advanced search within a single index. The results returned are very complete with more detail than is given by a similar search on FreeBMD.
